Itinerary

(1) Meeting Point

- 09:45 We meet in front of the ticket gates of the Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi station (in Osaka)

(2) Blue Symphony Lux Train to Mt. Yoshino

We will ride a lux train to Mount Yoshino, a real autumn hidden gem in Nara prefecture.

(3) Yoshino Autumn foliage trail

This trail is the first stop of our Fall Foliage Tour in Nara.
Prepare yourself to enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Autumn in Japan!

(4) Kinpusenji Temple

This temple houses three 7-meter high, blue-skinned statues of Zao Gongen. These statues are over 1,300 years old, and are displayed only for limited time during the autumn. If we are lucky we may be able to see it!

Also the main hall of this temple is the second largest wooden structure in Japan (the first one is the Big Buddha Hall) and has been designated as a “National Treasure of Japan".

(5) Lunch (Traditional Japanese Cuisine)

Because the Autumn in Japan brings up so many good food, it's the perfect season for food lovers to explore the country's culinary delights.

(6) Yoshimizu Shrine

At this stop we will keep enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Autumn in Japan, at the same time we learn about japanese history!

This shrine was originally founded as a temple in the 8th century. In the 12th century it was the refuge of the famous commander Minamoto Yoshitsune and then, in the 14th century, it gave shelter to Emperor Godaigo, who founded his imperial court in Yoshino and made this shrine his palace.

(7) Watch, Learn, Taste: Authentic Japanese Kuzu Sweets

Because our Autumn tour is not only about watching the koyo -read leaves of the fall-. We also get to learn about Japanese traditions too!

Live Demonstration
Kuzu is a japanese root used in many japanese dishes. Watch as an authentic artisan explains the fascinating chemistry of sweets making with kuzu through an open kitchen demonstration. He will guide us through each step of this centuries-old technique that brings traditional japanese sweets to life.

Tasting Experience
Enjoy authentic japanese sweets with traditional accompaniments like Japanese molasses, brown kinako powder and tea.

Please Note:

(1) This tour includes light hiking in the mountain. Participants must wear confortable shoes and be prepared to hike uneven surfaces, steps and inclines.

(2) This tour requires moderate physical condition and is not suitable for pregnant women or those using wheelchairs/strollers. Bags or pets should not be brought on this tour. You can leave your bags at the hotel or in lockers at the train stations.

(3) We depart at the scheduled time, so please arrive punctually.

(4) End times are approximate. Please allow buffer time for subsequent commitments.

(5) The order of stops may vary depending on route conditions or congestion at destinations.
If any locations are closed, we will visit an alternative location instead. No refunds will be provided in this case.

(6) The tour will continue in light rain, so please bring rain jackets and/or umbrellas (you can find it in convenience stores).

(7) If an official weather warning is issued for the are of the tour, the tour may be cancelled or suspended, and we will provide a full refund. We will let you know if that is the case, but if you want to check official information, see this website.
