Description

When the sun goes down and the hordes of tourists leave, Nara shows its most intimate side and whispers its stories in our ears. Are you ready to listen?

We are going to enjoy spots designated as World Heritage and historical buildings beautifully illuminated around the Nara Park area.

This tour is ideal for those seeking a more intimate, poetic and profound experience.

Itinerary

(1) Meeting Point

- 18:00 Meet at Namba Station of Kintetsu Railway
- 19:00 Meet in front of Gyoki Bosatsu Statue near Exit 2 or East Exit of Kintetsu Nara Station

(2) Nara Park

We are going to stroll through 1,630 acres of Nara Park, the home to over 1,000 wild deers. Some of them may be sleeping or wandering between the lanterns but -if we are lucky- some may come to say hi to us.

(3) Nara National Museum

(4) Todaiji Temple: South Gate

A national treasure, is the largest gate in Japan with 25 meters tall. It houses the statues of the guardian kings, also designated national treasures, that are said to have been sculpted by the most famous master sculptors.

(5) Entrance to Big Buddha Hall

(6) Bell Tower

Let this 1,200-year-old National Treasure echo through the stillness of the night.

(7) Nightscape from Todaiji Temple: Nigatsu-do Hall

The view from this observation deck will take your breath away! Without a doubt a great photo opportunity as well.

(8) Ukimido Pavilion

A real hidden gem inside the ancient capital that many people do not know about. This construction seems to float above the waters of Sagi Pond.

(9) First Torii Gate of Kasuga Shrine

Torri Gate at the entrance of Kasuga Taisha Shrine at Nara, Japan

(10) Koufukuji Temple: South Octagonal Hall

An elegant eight-sided structure originally built in 813. It houses important Buddhist statues and serves as a stop on the Kansai Kannon Pilgrimage.

(11) Sarusawa Pond
